Happy Birthday Daddy! My husband turned 44 today. His birthday request was that we didn’t buy birthday cards and that he wanted us all to put into a contribution to pay for a years registration of Disney Plus.
Being the big Star Wars fan that he is, he is very much looking forward to the launch of Disney Plus UK on 24th March. He’s been intentionally avoiding any and all spoilers of The Mandalorian, and is literally counting down the days to the launch!
Keen to encourage the girls to be creative with their gifts for Peach, I asked them to make a birthday card each for him (and to save ourselves the potential extra cost of £12 for said cards). There was a little bit of disgruntle at the beginning, but they all took the task and made it their own. And it is lovely to see their individual creations 😍
I have found that present and gift ideas get harder the older we get. We tend to have an idea of what we would like to get ourselves, but for others we struggle. Also, having five kids; we often think of other ways the money on a gift for each other can be spent on either something for the girls or something in the house 🤦🏼♀️
I took the girls shopping at the weekend to pick a gift up each to give to Peach. They each had £5 to spend, and they did so wisely. They put their money together to treat him to a bottle of rum (I purchased 😉) and then bought him a little gift each of either his favourite snacks, sauce or chocolate.
Peach and I had a lovely lunch together at Tithe Barn in Cosby. And then this evening, we have had family round for a Ponchinello’s Pizza and an amazing homemade Biscoff Cheesecake 😍
Thank you for all the lovely messages of concern and well wishes for my post yesterday. I am feeling much better today.
Today saw the start of Beat the Street in Blaby District. Our girls were very excited to be tapping in on the Beat boxes this morning. It’s a fun way to encourage people to get walking and to join the challenge leaderboard.
If you’re a listener of BBC Radio Leicester, you would have heard me chatting with Martin Ballard today about the Beat the Street competition. I got to also chat with Chiropractor, Tim Hutchful, who I have met before and was a pleasure to talk with again. We spoke about beards, ingenious names of businesses (Jason Doner Van 😂), gig ticket resales and painkillers. I thoroughly enjoy my time on table talk, it’s always good fun and I have met some truly amazing and fascinating people. Thanks Hayden & Martin!
And then tonight we’ve had family night, and as much as we say the time is for the girls to see their extended family more frequently (and for the visitors to get a free Peach cooked meal 😜), I have a feeling that someone else made the most of the extra attention tonight….
Secretly I spent the morning trying every website possible to get tickets to see Lewis Capaldi at The O2, London in October. I have tried for the past three days, to no avail. I had O2 priority presale access on Wednesday, I had Live Nation presale access yesterday and then the tickets went on general sale today and sold within 10 seconds 😲
This afternoon, Peach managed to get home early and join me in taking the girls to Rebound Inflatable Park in Ashby. It was one of the treat that they had requested at the beginning of the week. 2Tone suffers with motion sickness and therefore struggles with trampoline parks, so we thought we would give this a try. We paid for the hour, but you can opt to pay a little bit more and stay for two hours. As you can see by their sweaty faces, most of them had a thoroughly enjoyable time. In hindsight, it may have been a better option to do this at the beginning of the week, as I personally think the girls are a little bit tired and got tired very quickly.
We had family night with Nanna T tonight and she arrived with a wonderful treat of ice-creams for us all to enjoy and the most amazing Apple & Cinnamon Tray Bake!! 😍😋😍
Today I took the big girls for a beauty treatment, while my friend took the little girls off to Twinlakes. We met them there after lunch and they all had fun running around in the indoor play area. We ventured out of the play area and took the girls on a few rides. At first complaining that it was too cold and then once they had been on one ride, it was a race to get to the next one. I personally love it at Twinlakes, they have so much for children (and adults) of all ages to get involved in. They have indoor activities as well as outdoor activities and in the summer have a water play area too! The first photo was taken as the girls prepared to go on the go karts together; challenging each other to do 10 laps each. DM was lapped 4 times and one of those was with another person running alongside and then in-front of her 😂
We got home and the girls friends have slept over. It was so beautiful to see the big grins on their faces as I tucked them all in 🥰 (hoping they’ll get some sleep 🤞🏻)
This young lady is beautiful, kind-hearted and currently overwhelmed by hormones.
Five minutes after getting up, all the girls were complaining of aching. It would seem that they all overstretched themselves yesterday and now their muscles are screaming. However, it’s DM that is still aching when she got home from school. Distracted by her phone, she managed to get through most of this evening, however, a simple comment from TwoTone saying that she had eaten an apple caused a mini meltdown for DM. She took herself upstairs and got ready for bed. 7.15pm she was in her Pj’s, tucked up in bed and tearful because of her aching muscles. At 12 years old, DM has decided that she no longer wants to do any form of exercise, she wants to stay in bed all day and eat biscuits! That’s my girl 💪🏻 😂😂😂 Now the question is….. Being the caring, comforting parent that I am 🙊, when do you think I should tell her that day 2 is when you really ache? 🤔😬😂
Finding an activity that suits all and is affordable can sometimes be quite challenging. The girls have been asking to go Rock Climbing for a while. I follow a page called Ape Index It is a rock climbing, ninja warrior, activity centre.
They had scaffolding with ladders, ropes, hoops and nets to climb.
There were different heights to jump and swing from.
Pops even managed to find herself a lovely resting place high in a hammock…
With 11 of us going, we managed to walk away with only 3 injuries – and two of those were adult ones!
For £8 per child, we had two hours free play on everything there. They offered refreshments and food at a very reasonable price.
I felt the staff were welcoming, the venue was great value for money and the girls absolutely had a blast! I personally would like to see more cushioning/padding.
What made the whole occasion even better, was being thanked by TwoTone before even leaving the building ❤️
Egh! Getting out of bed in the morning is proving particularly hard at the moment. If it’s not DM, it’s R or P and if it’s not one of then it’s Aj that’s getting me up in the night. Quite often it’s just for a toilet duty, but it’s still an interrupted night. I’m fortunate enough to at least have Friday and Saturday night’s were Peach will take them (after I have woke him up because he doesn’t hear them). Last night it was DM, she could hear knocking in her bedroom and it was upsetting her. R&P were invited to see their “boys” today. There were four sets of twins, four Mummy’s and one baby Aj! I have no doubt that prior to our arrival, our friends house was tidy, organised and in good form, but believe you me, after 15 minutes of us all being there, there were toys and children everywhere!! We had a wonderful time and as you can see by the photo, the kiddies were really well behaved and ate their lunch beautifully. R&P clearly had a wonderful time; by the time we were home, they were both fast asleep in the back of the car, catching flies with their open mouths!! The girls amaze me every day with their new abilities, their level of understanding and their wonderful chit chat. Ruby is obsessed at the moment with her jigsaw book. She will carefully dismantle the jigsaw and then happily rebuild it, all day!! Penny, so wants to please. She loves to be a good girl and the praise that comes with it. Aj is learning and changing all the time. Today for her has been spent rubbing the back of her head on her high-chair for some reason! It makes her smiles and giggle as she does it 😊 DM had her gymnastics today and Peach tells me that she did a fabulous roll over the bars today 😊 I’m hoping for a better nights’s sleep, but as it stands Aj has been crying and upset every hour for the last four hours. So I bid you good night, whilst I have a chance to get some zzzzzzzz’s while I can……….
